The changing season’s light is cast over new green growth and fading winter stubble, in Spring Fields. (Detail; courtesy of Thomas William Jones)
As the new season approaches, contrasts are evident in the Skagit Valley. A sun shaft of warmth is felt against a cool breeze as I approach La Conner. The fields seem ripe for new growth and textures. Brighter green tones of new grasses are in competition with winter’s leftover ocher stubble. With the changing light, distant structures reflect their aging character.
These impressions inspired my watercolor Spring Fields.
