First, some dates to keep in mind: The general election is Nov. 7. Ballots will be mailed out Oct. 20. 

Next Wednesday, Sept. 27, the City Club of Bellingham at Noon holds its forum for candidates for Bellingham mayor and city council Ward 1, Ward 3 and at-large positions— and the Bellingham/Whatcom County League of Women Voters holds its forum at 7 p.m. for Whatcom County executive candidates, live in Whatcom County Council Chambers.

That’s just the beginning. Salish Current stands with the City Club and the three county League chapters in encouraging you to attend or Zoom these forum presentations: watch and listen, then judge and vote. 

Hang on, here’s the schedule:

Sept. 27

11:30 a.m. — In-person, Mount Vernon city council and school board, at Hillcrest Lodge, registration. Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce.

Noon — In-person, Bellingham mayor and council races at the Bellingham Yacht Club, reservations no later than 6 p.m., Sept. 24. Bellingham City Club.

7 p.m. — In-person, Whatcom County executive, in Whatcom Council Chambers. Bellingham/Whatcom LWV. 

Sept. 28

6 p.m. — In-person, Ferndale mayor and council, in Ferndale Council Chambers. Bellingham/Whatcom LWV. 

Oct. 2

6 p.m. — In-person and by Zoom, Sedro-Woolley mayor and city council positions, at Skagit PUD. Skagit LWV.

Oct. 3

5:30 p.m. — In-person and ZoomLopez School Board Position #3, public hospital district Proposition #1, Grace Church Parish Hall. San Juan LWV.

7 p.m. — In-person, Whatcom Council, in Whatcom Council Chambers. Bellingham/Whatcom LWV.

Oct. 4

Noon — By Zoom, Whatcom Proposition 4 (Jail) Levy, Bellingham Initiative 1 (minimum wage), and Bellingham Initiative 2 (rental relocation). Register by Oct. 2. Bellingham City Club

Oct. 6
