Dear readers:
It’s an honor to introduce myself as the editor of Salish Current. I come from small-town newspapers on both sides of the Cascade Range and have learned firsthand the value of shoe-leather community reporting, the daily grind to spread information accurately and quickly, and being at times the lonely light shining upon those who wish I wasn’t.
With a portfolio of environmental publications, I strive to bring readers closer to the natural world and the issues impacting them alongside the beings that cannot provide a voice of their own.
I look forward to delivering the latest in government, education, agriculture, commerce, criminal and social justice and more, through innovative storytelling techniques and stunning visuals. I see it as a collaboration involving as many of your voices as possible, be it as a quote, a letter or a byline.
More than most, I have felt the impact of newspapers closing, newsrooms shrinking and reporters under attack. In this day, Salish Current prevails with an inventive model providing deep, dire information to northwestern Washington — free to read and share.
I’m thrilled to join this mission and, most of all, hear from you.
