To the Editor:
Our Washington State Supreme Court, widely regarded as one of the fairest, most diverse and progressive in the nation, is at risk this year.
Many of us aren’t knowledgeable about judicial races and let them pass. Also, we usually see only a couple of Supreme Court choices in any given election.
This time is different. Five seats — a majority of the nine-seat court — are up for a vote. Enough to tip the balance if we’re not paying attention.
The recently enacted “millionaires tax” will come before the new court, as will cases involving civil rights and consumer protections.
Four of the five races will be on our primary ballots. Be ready. Your vote is needed and will matter.
